FTP error

!!!!!Hello Everybody!!!!!

We have one FTP server. Users are uploding files to the perticular directory remotely. but today some users got below error message.

421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection.

(vsftpd service is up and running)

What are the possible causes for this error and from where I should start troubleshooting?

vsftp

I would check the system logs, the vsftp log (if you enabled one), and look for service, server, or network evens during that time window.

Come to think, I would check the disk space first, just for GPs.

I have checked the same. But there is no issue with service(vsftpd), network and also disk space.

thanX

What happens when you telnet to the server. So:

telnet hostname 25

Issue solved
Script was running on remote site to upload files using FTP client.
And in that script "mput" has been used and interactive mode was on. So every time script got fired waited for confirmation whether to upload a file or not because of the INTERACTIVE MODE. Thats why connection got time out by server.

Thanx everybody for taking interest in my thread.
