formatting a secondary hard drive

I've searched the forums and nothing seems to be answering my question. I would like to know how do I format my secondary hard drive hdb to linux partitions for my file server.

If your secondary harddrive contains one partition at /dev/hdb1 then to make it ext3 you would run:
mke2fs -j /dev/hdb1
Or you could use fdisk to split it into multiple partitions and do the above on each partition to make them ext3.

Instead of fdisk, I'd say you use cfdisk.
