Can't you change the read/write permissions?

sumitrai,

Query: "i m thinking of shifting my file server on linux....n i m nt able to block mp3 files and .extension files being copied from the file server.
plls help..."

One way:
Put these files into a directory, then set permission of that directory into exclusive: do this--

user@host--$: mkdir mymp3
user@host--$: chmod 700 ./mymp3

that way you alone can open the directory and read its contents. BTW, reload services in order for new permission to take effect.

Another way
:
Do not share those files, exclude them from the shared folders.

--------x

Hope this helps.

good luck.
