fedora core kernel upgrade- no sound

I recently upgraded my kernel to 2.6.4 and I am having trouble with my sound card now. I remember configuing ALSA and OSS for my kernel and now it detects soundcard and plays test sound(which I can hear) but when I do ok to install the sound card I get this error:
cmpci driver couldnt be located, the soundcard may not be compatible with redhat linux. It was working fine with 2.4.2 kernel.. does anyone know how to fix this?
thanks

Did you build the sound stuff into the kernel or as modules?

Have you looked in your modules directory for the module that matches your soundcard and tried to modprobe or insmod?
