You're mounting tmpfs to /dev/shm. Does /dev/shm exist? try "ls /dev/shm" to see if it's there. Perhaps device names have changed since fed 10

[root@evermore subsys]# ls -l /dev/shm
total 0
[root@evermore subsys]# ls

yes it exist, there's nothing inside of it though

i ls subsys cuz i touch local

and local does get created, so i know first one works
second one fails to mount tmpfs

lol because my teamspeak server minimum script fails

error out because tmpfs is not mounted

you can also do mount command

to see what is mounted

and more /etc/mtab i think will show what is mounted and recorded.....

so i am pretty sure it is not mounted...

It's the
Code:
[root@evermore subsys]# ls -l /dev/shm
total 0
that i don't understand. If I ls -l a non existent block device I get the same error as you. If I ls -l an existing one, I get
Code:
[chicken@soup:~]# ls -l /dev/sdb3
brw-rw---- root disk 22, 0 April 17 17:28 /dev/sdb3
So .. idk

I have fedora 14 and ls -l /dev/ | grep -i "shm" gets this output.
Code:
$ ls -l /dev | grep -i "shm"
drwxrwxrwt 2 root root 40 Apr 13 01:32 shm
I also show the same mount options for tmpfs in fstab and checked it is mounted via mount.
However I noticed that /dev/pts is mounted differently for me, perhaps that is hanging up the mount process for tmpfs?

Code:
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
