extracting files from RAR archives

I have a lot of files in the .rar format. But GNU doesn't provide any tools for extracting them.Is there some third party app that does the job, or perhaps some script. Please advise.

unrar to decompress
rar to compress

they are seperate apps

unrar is a command line app
so, once it's installed

man unrar
for the manual and correct usage

Also, unrar is freeware while rar is shareware.
