Question export problem

Hi,

I am running suse 9 and have a problem exporting my PATH variable.

A PATH variable is already set and I want to do the folllowing:

export PATH=/usr/jave/j2sdk/bin:$PATH

this works and I can see when I do an echo $PATH the new path.

unfortunately it only remains for the shell session and not permanently?

I want to run eclipse - it needs to access rmic in the bin directory and can't just use the jre.

thanks in advance for any pointers

Rob
