Hi All,
I am a software developer with some experience of Linux().I work in a telecommunications industry.
I want to know what kind of certifications I should be doing that will help me advance in my career professionally.I want to have some short term certifications (3/6 months) that would increase my programming skills in Linux.I want to know names of such certifications that anyone of you is aware of.Please point me to some of the sites that do provide me with this kind of training.

You expecting advice only from experts or also from experienced users who are not so expert?
Please let the experts know you work on which language?(C or Java or any other)
Certification is not must!Depending on your language skill you could be suggested some!If you are experienced senior developer and want to go for some Management Jobs you can go for PMP certification
For programmer the certification is not must but it will be strongly considered and will make strong point both in a resume and during an interview. Most importantly, certification helps you to feel more confident as it usually covers most high-points. You feel better knowing that your understanding of the subject is well rounded and the exams usually mimic the questions you will meet on an interview, so you will be better prepared. I am more on admin side, but I can code on C/C++, some Perl, some shells etc. take a look on UnixAcademy.com there's both training and certifications. I used them a lot when was between the jobs.
