Lightbulb error while parallel processing of a software package

hi dear all.

i compiled a software package (taken from a tar file) in parallel usig MPI(masage passing interface) libraries.

I compiled this software on intel 64 bit os.

I found it to run sucessfully to many jobs. But when i run some files that uses more memory (i think), i got the following error.....

Fatal error in PMPI_Bcast: Message truncated, error stack:
PMPI_Bcast(1302)......................: MPI_Bcast(buf=0xd48fc4, count=1, MPI_LOGICAL, root=0, MPI_COMM_WORLD) failed
MPIR_Bcast(998).......................:
MPIR_Bcast_scatter_ring_allgather(848):
MPIR_Bcast_binomial(157)..............:
MPIDI_CH3U_Receive_data_found(129)....: Message from rank 4 and tag 2 truncated; 664 bytes received but buffer size is 4

i don't know where to ask this question.

i don't know what is the meaning of this error masage?

can anybody help me?

with regards

kilam

error while parallel processing of a software package

Hi: Did you resolve this issue? I'm getting the same error message on a different software package and will look into it further if you did not solve the problem.

Thanks

Chris,

i am not sure but this problem was b'coz of installation of MPI. Just follow the installtion guide for MPI. Also, memory problem was n't there.

The problem had to do with different message sizes (from different processors) reaching the mpi_min function and not the mpich2 build or memory corruption.
