error unknown filesystem grub rescue...? please HELP!

i accidently installed ubuntu 10.10 over my windowx xp because i didn't partition and so my only operating system was ubuntu when i tried to recover my windows xp partition by using tesdisk when i rebooted my computer it said error:unkown filesystem grub rescue now i cant access either windows or ubuntu leaving my computer useless how do i fix this...??? please help

Hello ey b, welcome to LQ,

"unknown filesystem" most likely means that your recovery-system lacks a module for the filesystem which Ubuntu created while the installation. I'd recommend to use the Ubuntu-Install-CD in order to reinstall grub.
