error:mounting usb pendrive in debian


hi ,,

this is my first post..
i tried to mount usb pendrive in debian and error occured
.
i have no idea what is the problem with /etc/mtab

g-max:/# mount /dev/sde1 /mnt/usb
mount: can't open /etc/mtab for writing: 入力/出力エラーです

this is dmseg

g-max:/# dmesg |tail
SCSI device sde: 251904 512-byte hdwr sectors (129 MB)
sde: Write Protect is off
/dev/scsi/host2/bus0/target0/lun0: p1
usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:03.0-3 address 3
hub.c: new USB device 00:03.0-2, assigned address 4
WARNING: USB Mass Storage data integrity not assured
USB Mass Storage device found at 4
SCSI device sde: 251904 512-byte hdwr sectors (129 MB)
sde: Write Protect is off

Try changing your command to

mount -t auto -n /dev/sde1 /mnt/usb

-n prevents the system from writing to /etc/mtab, which is necessary if your /etc system is read-only. You'd need the -t flag either way
