Error installing XMMS on Kubuntu.

Recently I turned Ubuntu on my laptop into Kubuntu (with KDE 4.1). I tried installing XMMS from source. However while configuring I got the error that GLIB>1.2 is not installed. So I installed the libglib-dev package. However still I was getting the same problem .
However I was able to install XMMS on a different machine running Ubuntu, earlier.
Can it be a problem with kubuntu?
I am using Acer Aspire 5920 laptop.

Thanks and regards,
Vineet

sudo apt-get build-dep xmms

You can use apt-get to compile too
