Hello Linux Freakers,

I have RHEL AS 4 Update 4 Machine in which defualt python version is 2.3 but I want to upgrade it to python-2.5.2.I downloaded the package from python.org but while running:

Code:
[root@localhost Python-2.5.2]# ./configure
checking MACHDEP... linux2
checking EXTRAPLATDIR...
checking for --without-gcc... no
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl.exe... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.

This is complaining about the C compiler. Check whether you have gcc installed, and is in your path.

Note: RHEL usually have Python dependencies. So be careful with upgrading Python manually. You could leave the existing installation of Python and install a new one separately.
