Angry Editing the boot file

Hi,
I recently installed fedora core 3 linux on my Dell inspiron 8600 laptop. Its working fine. I want to edit the boot file( I dont know exactly whether the file name is correct or not!!)
When I switch on my laptop its showing
Fedora
Other
as my operating systems. I want to change ¨other¨ into ¨Windows XP¨. Can anyone tell me how to do this.
And one more doubt is when I want to explore my computer, each folder is opening in its own new window. How can we stop this so that we can go to each folder in the same window.
Thank you. Please reply me asap.
