Edit Text file

I need to edit part of a text file that resides on a machine I am accessing via SSH. The edited info is on my computer. How can I get the edited info from my machine into the text file on the SSH session.
Is their simply way to cut and paste?

most version of vi support past input.

just copy what you want,
open the file with vi, navigate to where you want to paste
and say shift-insert
