E: Broken Packages

I set up a Debian virtual machine on my pc, 2 actually, to determine if I wanted gnome or kde for my debian server. I set up the VMs with out a desktop environment to test installing them on the VMs before trying on my server. The install went flawless. However, my server was another story. The server is Debian Squeeze x64 just as the VMs were. I set the sources.list to use the standard Debian mirrors.

I tried to install kde-standard but that just prints a similar message with a whole lot longer list of dependencies.

I have tried to run apt-get update,upgrade,dist-upgrade, and install --fix-broken(with nothing else specified) but no such luck. How can I get a minimal KDE environment set up?

Your sources.lst file could be broken. Try to find on google if you can the original sources.lst for your version of debian and use that and check if that solves your issue.

Thanks for the reply, but did you read the post or just the title? I included my sources.list, and mentioned it is a stock sources.list.

I dont use Debian so I can not confirm your sources.lst file. Is there a specific reason why you want KDE on your server? And if there are some missing packages, you may want to add external repositories that supply those.

Again, please read the information provided. There is no need for additional repositories. The soruces.list is exactly the same as my VM, and yet on the vm I installed all the dependencies as well as kde,x,and kdm just fine.

EDIT: Turns out that when the host had did some software and dependency installs for me he used the wheezy repo to be able to install via apt. After adding the wheezy repos it got past that, but still having trouble with connecting to KDE over VNC but I will start another thread for that if needed.
