Dualboot XP Mandrake with grub - weird error

Sorry to ask this q for about 1000th time but i haven't seen any tuts regarding XP being on a SM instead of a PM

I'm trying to dual boot mandrake and winXP with Grub and mandrake works fine, but i have a problem witn XP.

HDD config:
Primary master: 120 GB, Mandrake Linux, grub is installed on MBR
primary slave: none
secondary master: 10 GB WinXP, NTFS, bootloader not configured to dualboot
secondary slave: CDRW

My grub.conf:
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#boot=/dev/hda
default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Pingo Linux (2.4.20-20.9)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-20.9 ro root=LABEL=/ hdd=ide-scsi
initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.20-20.9.img
title Windows XP
root (hd1,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

#original XP lines from the original config, do not work
#title Windows/DOS
# rootnoverify (hd1,0)
# chainloader +1

Now the weird thing... When i try to run windows, this is displayed and the windows does not boot:
root (hd1,0)
[something about the file system not being correct or recognized], partition type 0x7.
makeactive
chainloader +1

Can somebody help me get this to work?

Use rootnoverify, and you dont 'need "makeactive".
Was winXP installed while it was the only drive on the system?

yes, i recently added that 120 gig drive and installed linux on it, made it a primary master and all. I changed the jumpers and all too, so the system is working. WinXP works if i change it's disk to primary boot disk (while still being SM) in BIOS, it just doesn't start GRUB. So, the windows system is accesible, but won't start from bootloader. U know what i mean right?
