Dual Display Connect Failure redirect as needed ...

Ladies, Gentlemen …

Just out of the box, totally new to Linux … but it was either Linux or Windows 8.1 computer suicide! So desperate was I, I jumped the fence into Linus Mint 17. One of my machines, a Gigabyte gamer works just fine, the other a MSI GT60 DominatorPro 3k-475 laptop will not take a 2nd display.

But up the MSI machine as a stand-alone laptop, Mint 17 works like a charm. Boot up with a HDMI connected 2nd display at launch, or launch and boot and then plug in the 2nd display, then the whole thing enters into a vicious log-in loop, which 'restoring resolver state.' Type in the user ID and password, an the loop goes on! Kind of takes the fun and meaning out of the words 'restoring' and 'resolver.' But for sure, the frozen up 'state' of endless loop is one heck of a jam!!

I don't know were to start. Since the Mint 17 OS loads fine … and the OS works fine with a 2nd display on a Gigabyte machine, it is probably not a Mint kernal problem, but maybe a driver issue. Or a settings issue? I really need some help in resolving the dual monitor dilemma.

This probably is not the place to go, but I am betting some of you smart people can get me redirected and on the right tack.

This is your chance to liberate one more machine from Windows Slavery … and make it a useful Linux World Citizen!

Below are the specs.

And with my thanks in advance,

Dave Mason
