DSL/MYDSL remastering questions...

Reading thru all the stuff I googled about DSL remastering-but now I'm a tad confused...?
Basically all I want to do is add a couple wallpapers, add a theme or two, and change the html page that opens when Dillo pops up when you get to the Desktop.
I know how to do all that, but I thought when I did the mydsl remaster I would get a CD that had all my stuff I added, but nope-it's just a regular DSL iso-what gives?
The CD I want must be "standalone", so if I put it in my buddy's computer it has everything I added to it on the CD.
So, how do I do this?
Must I crack open the "KNOPPIX" compressed image and add the items manually and then recompress it?
I'm hoping somebody knows a way to add the things I want Without having to decompress the image, etc.
