drive space

From the shell, how do I determine available drive space? I'm not running KDE or Gnome.

check the column "Available"

You might want to try
Code:
df -h
if you want sizes in megabytes, gigabytes etc. It uses 1024 bytes as its base, not 1000. If you want 1000, use
Code:
df -H
