Downloading and installing Linux

I down load mandriva-linux and I need to burn it to CD to load it on my PC but I can not remember how to copy it to cd so that it will boot from that cd on my other computer. I did it years ago and have forgotten what to do and I want to get back into using linux. If anyone can advise how to copy linux to a bootable cd so that I can install it on my other pc would be a big help. Thanks

Hello All

I beleive that I found out what I was doing wrong - which is I have to burn the download as an image to a cd/dvd. Trying right now will add to this post if it does not work.....

what's up, and welcome to LQ!

What linux distro are you using now, or are you on Windows?

If in Linux I suggest "k3b", use dao, burn at slowest speed(8x?), and click the button that says- "burn cd image".

In windows "imgburn" is a freeware app that is good.
