Does Ubuntu Software Center not use Snaps?

Curiosu question: Does Ubuntu Software center use, or not use snaps to install programs?

I'm curious, as when I installed Firefox with Ubuntu Software Center, then opened Synaptic package manager, then Synaptic didn't show it installed.

It showed this, screenshot below, something about a dummy package....

A web search for "ubuntu snaps" turns up a number of articles about this, several from Ubuntu itself. That may be a good place to start.

It appears that Ubuntu software center uses snaps & in the past things installed with it also showed up installed in Synaptic package manager. I just checked "Gimp" and in Ubuntu software center it is installed; however, in Synaptic it doesn't show up as installed (either).

Your Firefox is installed using Snap and not an apt package, so synaptic doesn't see it, because Synaptic is a front end to apt package management system.
