Display Driver Problem Intel (r) Graphics Cantiga Ubuntu 12.04 32-Bit

Hi Guys,

I just recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop. Once I choose a regular boot off the grubloader the screen just stays black. I don't reach the login screen.

However when I switch to recovery mode on the boot screen and choose normal boot afterwards, i can get to the login screen and use the machine regularly. The problem is that the display proportions are a bit off and I can't change it.

Hopefully someone can help me out. I'm really new to Linux

I am facing similar, if not exactly the same problem, does anyone have an answer to this?

Different in my situation is that in recovery mode linux still won't start, it just tells me that i need to reconfigure my display drivers, then i get a command-like screen, it tells me that the battery check is [ok] and it stops there.

I first booted from a live-usb and that went absolutely perfect. Quick, smooth and beautiful. So i proceeded into installing and now i want to use it as well!
