desktop effects problem in ubuntu 10.04 Lucid


I am a newbie in linux.
I have fedora 11 and ubuntu 10.04 installed.
I can apply desktop effects like woobly windows,cube,etc. on fedora but they are not working on ubuntu.

1) When i enabled desktop effects from appearance->visual effects->Normal
it says "Desktop effects could not be enabled"

2)I have installed compiz-settings-manager but when i apply the effects they just does not work!

I don't have graphic card.

my computer specifications.....
Pentium 4 2.4GHz
Hard disk:80 GB
RAM : 1.5 GB

please help!
