I have a Dell Precision Workstation 650 - Dual Xeon Processors and 2GB RAM. I cannot get SUSE Linux 8.1 or 9 to load from the installation disk. The Grub installer screen runs on boot up and allows choices of options 'safe' etc etc but when the actual installation mode is selected and activated, the program just crashes.
I have e-mailed tech support at SUSE, but have yet to receive a reply, come to that I've never received any reply to any query submitted to SUSE.
By the way this does not happen on a single processor laptop Dell M50, the installation goes quite smoothly. I am relatively new to Linux but would very much like to get it running on my workstation.
Does anyone have experience of loading Linux on a dual processor machine, or know of a Linux package that is known to run on such a machine.
Thank you in advance
