dell latitude c610 really need help!!!!!!!!!


hi im new to linux and have a dell latitude c610 with a new hard drive with no operating system and last night downloaded and burned a copy of ubuntu 8.10 i have tried installing this today and it wont boot it keeps saying the kernal requires x86-64 cpg, can some one please help tell me which one to use that will work as could do with my laptop up and running soon thanks

try to use the 32 bit version

i have copied the 32 bit version an ran it on my laptop it loads the ubuntu and asks for language then install it it loads and goes into a blank screen then loads of errors start coming up like
mount:mounting/sys on/root/sys failed:invalid argument
and asks me to enter a command but not sure what to do please help!!!

You'll need to be a bit more specific. A typical procedure is to boot up in "live CD" mode, and then start the installer. Please describe in detail the steps you have gone thru and exactly what happens. When you say "asks me to enter a command", you need to tell us exactly what it says, and what you were doing before this appears.
