Ok here it goes. I really need some help here, I most definitely screwed up my computer.

I run a HP 522 n with Windows XP, an Intel Celeron 1.8 GHz processor and used to have a copy of Lindows on a partition.

Here beginnith the problem.

Lindows was freezing up during the boot. I ran Windows and deleted the Lindows partition, dedicated that free memory back to Windows and rebooted for it all to take place. The problem here is my computer literally is only on for a second before it starts blinking after the phrase "LI" .

Now I am going to assume it is LILO from my research of various threads and that I deleted my bootloader when removing the partition. The question is what do I do now?

Anybody got some suggestions? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.... I have so much on there that I need to get to

By the way while it was working Linux was freakin awesome I must say. I didn't even have a real version of it and I can see what all the hype is about. Anyway maybe this crashing is the reason HP got out of the computer business for awhile. Side note though.

yea, te LI then freeze is a botched LILO
your best bet, reinstall it
this will solve the mbr problem
you might try reinstalling windoze over top of itself so it can reformat adn remanage your MBR
also windows comes with a
command that might prove useful

If lindows is freezing a lot, you could try a different distro, there a lot of stable ones about.

To fix the boot prob, just use a windows disk and boot to dos, and do one of the following.

NT

fdisk /mbr

hit the option for "restore master boot record" twice.

9x

fdisk /mbr

That should sort the boot problem out.
