Transmission does not support file capturing but wget is an excellent CLI utility which enables resuming of broken downloads. So I have started using wget for almost all my big downloads.

As far as the auto login is concerned I did the following:

Edit : /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

And remove the # in front of autologin-user=manish

Now the system automatically logs me in without asking for username and password.
