Debian, how to fast track an install?

I'm at the base system install phase, but my question is, if all I want to do with the box now is run open ssh (for a sftp server), what do I need to do and what can I skip in the install process?

I think all I need is IpTables, OpenSSH, and then setup my users & home directory. Am I missing anything?

At some point in the Debian installation, it will ask you what softare you want (desktop, file server, mail server, etc. etc.). At that point just check the things you want. If you leave out anything important you can always install it later.

Further to the above, I started with the Debian netinst disk and unchecked everything in that list, ending up with a very small system with full (wired) networking. Then you can just apt-get whatever package you need.
