debian 9 gnome with screen reader orca then kodi with screen reader stops


So I have Debian 9

and I have gnome installed. Because it works best with Orca the screen reader for friend who is Visualy impared so they can use itunes,shoutcast,youtube through the nicest player ever kodi who since 2015 has the nice screen reader working I have been using this with many diffrent distros and found myself back to the most experience debian distro and all was working for many months no updates then all of a sudden the screen reader is not working. i am unable to figure out how to get it back to working.
