Debian 6 cant install gcc

Hello Linuxexperts,

I am a newbie but have great expectations. I have installed Debian 6 within Virtualbox and want to install nagios3.2.3. I have downloaded and updated I believe everything but when I go to execute the command to compile I am given an error that I do not have a C compiler. Where do I go to get a C Compiler for Debian 6? I have updated my source.list with new websites but they have turned out to be 404 error pages. If there are current webpages I can insert in the sources pages that would also be helpful. Thanks for the support!

You use the apt-get command to install software on a Debian system. See here for a detailed apt-get howto: https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverguide/C/apt-get.html
