Data recovery - help please

HI,
I tried to install the OCE version of Xandros and keep getting an error message and the installation fails. I cannot read the disk now from windows as its a different filing system. My question is:
can I recover any data I had on the disk. I know, I know I should have backed everything up - but who does? I started the installation on the incorrect disk and now I cant run Xandros or access my data.
Any help would be greatky appreciated.
regards

Try downloading a Knoppix live CD. Then you can boot to the CD and configure your network or CD burner to get your data off the drive while within Knoppix. Here's a link to help you get started: http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Rescue_FAQ
