copy user


I hv two server ( Redhat ) , I want to copy a few user ( not all user , only copy 100 out of 500 users ) from server A to server B , I want to copy the user a/c ( passwd , shadow and profile ) can advise what is the method to do that ? thx

I think you can simply append the entries to /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow (and /etc/group) after making sure that the username and uid (and gid) are not already used.

What do you mean by "profile"? Are you talking about the users home dir? If so I think you can just copy these too, again making sure that you file ownerships are correct.
