copy all comnads from /usr/sbin/ folder


Hi Gurus,
as we know, we have lot of commands in usr/sbin folder..

i need all commands in excel sheet. so, could you please let me know how to copy all commands to notepad or some file..

What have you tried already? What problems are you seeing?

I am new to this environment..so, i have been trying to create file with commands .. but no luck..

Might I suggest reading up a little on scripting, then? I think just piping a command should work for what you would like to see. Try google searcges like "man in ls" for more about what can be listed.

Maybe
Code:
ls -l > somefile
^^ that's a lower case ell - for long format output
or if just a list of files
Code:
ls -1 > somefile
^^ that's a one; puts each filename on its own line.
Neither will give you a csv format, but the resulting text file can be read into Calc or Excel and converted there.

Much like you've been told in your other two threads, you need to show some effort of your own, and ask clear questions:

You can either type them in, or use a redirect (as scasey pointed out) to get things into a file. Do as you want to with them from there.
