Control+shift+u has stopped working

LM 18.3 Sylvia, Xfce
Can I use this possible solution to restore control+shift+u functionality?
https://askubuntu.com/questions/557147/ ... ed-working

How do I use the "ibus preferences" ?

Welcome to the LQ forums,

Did you review that ask link which you included?

Firstly it does discuss how to change from XIM to iBus

Secondly, answer #3 states that the functionality is not broken, they changed the appearance.

I presume you are talking about the old method for entering Unicode characters. I haven't seen this working for years, probably because it's inconvenient and obsolete. If you want to type ©, which is easier — using the sequence Compose oc or remembering that © is code 40? Run your keyboard configuration tool and enable a Compose key — the Windows menu key is a good place to put it. Then read
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compose_key
