Conectiva login question

I loaded Conectiva 10 months ago and just yesterday. Both times I am not able to get past the login. It calls for the kaddish login and when I try the root password or user name it will not work. Yes, as you guessed, I am new to Linux! I would really like to try Conectiva but am not able to use it. Can someone help me?

Thank You,
Ken

Have you created a normal user account during the installation? Try to log in as that user. Many distributions prevent direct root login (you need to log in as user and then use su command to become root), don't know if it's true for Connectiva, but it's worth trying.

Strange... Don't know if Connectiva supports this, but when you get the menu (commandline?) when you can choose the os to boot try to pass/enter parameter 'single' - make the command 'linux single'. It should boot fast to command line. When you get it run
passwd root
It's a command to change password (in this case for root). You can also run 'passwd anotheruser' and change all users passes.
