Kevin
Im about ready to forget studio completely. I was unable to get a working iso of 9.04 to work, which I have heard is a common problem.
As for Open Office, I didnt even bother to install it this time around. I did install Abiword, if I need to write something.
I have partitioned my hard drive as 100 gig with Ubuntu 32bit version 8.1 and 400 gig for Ubuntu Studio. Studio runs most of the time.
I get a lot of failed boots with a lot of numbers and kernal panic at the end. I have been trying to get dual monitors setup
for an Nvidia GeForce 9500, with out any luck. its been very frustrating dealing with studio.
Back to your problem. I do know that Open Office relies a lot on Java to work correctly.
Last time I checked Sun did not have a 64 bit version of Java which could account for some of your problems.
They may have developed a 64 bit version by now.
I have not been able to get java to install under Studio yet. Ive tried using Synaptic and found many Java install files and different
versions. None have worked correctly yet. The download version from Sun says it is installed but it does not come up when I
look at a site that uses Java, (
www.runescape.com) then click on free players. If java is working a nice video will load, otherwise
it tells you that Java is not enabled.
So basically I still dont have an answer for you.
let me know how it goes
