Compiling the kernel, will repositories work after that?
Whole question is in the title. I mean, if I compile a new kernel for this ThinkPad, will software from fedora-* and livna work just like they did previously or am I supposed to prepare for major onslaught and dependency hell?
I think the only problems you may run into is with modules you built or installed like Nvidia drivers, etc. They just need to be rebuilt for the new kernel.
Also, do not overwrite your working kernel with the new one just compiled. Add an entry to your boot manager (lilo or grub) that points to the new kernel. That way, if the new kernel has issues, you can reboot back to the original.
