Depends what you want to do with your machine. I have installed Ubuntu 7.04 on a similar machine and it is SLOOOOW. This is with the X-server. If you plan to go without a GUI, then any distribution will suffice.
I will be using the machine for web,emails, Skype and word proccesing.
The PC will be on a network using a broadband router for internet access. Would this make any difference?
