Clonezilla didnt restore grub

I currently had windows 7 dual booted with arch linux. I backed up the root partition and /home partition from my arch setup using clonezilla by making partition images. I messed up something with the network in arch Linux so I just decided to restore the arch Linux partition images. Then I read some error with grub not being able to be read or restored and ntfs not specified etc. or something (that's the best I somewhat remember). I restart my system and all I get is a grub> prompt with text that mentions minimal bash like line editing is supported. I don't get the grub menu with arch Linux and windows 7. Anyone have any solutions?

Since you did not back up your MBR (only the partitions) we have nothing to restore and recover from the situation. Possible fault lies on the MBRrecord or just in your grub config record, things might have changed along partitions since the back up. Arch uses legacy grub (right?) Grub1 or Legacy Grub, so it is a very easy edit on the /boot/grub/menu.lst file.

But the shortest and surest way is to reinstall your grub in the Arch system and then install-grub into the MBR. After installing grub, you will only edit the 'manu.lst' file to boot into your Windows 7. If you need a guide in configuring the grub here is a very good tutorial. This will sure solve your problem.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I decided to burn the super grub disk and it allowed me to boot to my windows 7 properly. But I keep getting some kernel panic errors when trying to boot into arch Linux and it just hangs. The thing is that I also booted from an archbang live CD and got to see my arch Linux partitions and even saw the menu.lst. I also can't use the find command when trying to fix through the command-line.
