Change SUSE time format to xx/xx/xxxx in Dolphin

I am using openSUSE 11.1. Dolphin is showing the date as 2011-01-20 and I am trying to get it to show 01/20/2011. It shows up as an example in the etc/sysconfig/language file, but I have not had any luck getting it to work. The current language is set to en_US.UTF-8. The RC_LC_TIME "" information shows the date in the format I am looking for, but every time I modify it, Firefox can not find the internet anymore. Thank you
