centos 4.3 sysstat error


dear sir sir

i do encounter when i try to install this file

[root@mypc]# rpm -ivh sysstat-7.0.2-3.el5.i386.rpm

error: Failed dependencies:

also when i try this also not work

# yum install sysstat
-bash: yum: command not found

------------------------------------------

however the os and email server working fine on it. what should i check and try it.

i bring from dvd of centos 5.5 the below files when i try install 1 by 1 or all it give errors of dependency. can you highlight which is best file to install. then yum start working automatically.

if you really are running the un/not updated (in a very long time ) CentOS4.3
YOU CAN NOT install red hat 5 ( el5,RHEL 5 ) rpms on 4

1) update to the current version of 4 - 4.8 - i think
-- or --
install the current version of CentOS 5.5

you WILL ( and from the looks) YOU DID KILL the centos 4 install


also RHEL4 and CentOS 4 did not have yum installed by default - they are TO OLD
they used "up2date"

As JohnVV said v4.x != v5.x; don't try and mix them.... This might help for up2date vs yum cmds https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-2531
