cant get slax to save


i have an old ibm 390x laptop. i formated hard drive to ex2 was going to install the hole slakeware, but its to big so i installed slax 5.1.8 on it. now if i make changes to it it wont save them it boots me up like a new live cd
any ideas thanks

ok sorry i just created folder in partition solved that problem kinda
now i have another one i cant get standby or suspend to work it will go into suspend or standby but i cant get it out any sug.
