Cant get my netgear card to work with Fedora 4

I'm running Fedora 4 on a compaq presario 2100, and every time I plug in my netgear MA401 wireless card, the whole system freezes. This is the first time I've installed linux on one of my comps, so I think that qualifies me as a newbie, and any suggestions on how to fix this would be welcome.

It has really been helpful to me, in knowing where to search, and how to post.

You might also check your /var/log/messages file after you reboot for errors.
