canon ip1000


have just moved to linux and need to find a driver to make my canon ip1000 printer work...i am very new to all this and need basic help. i have looked a similar threads but dont understand most of the comments. thanks

Follow the link in my signature to FSG OpenPrinting. You should be able to determine what kind of support your printer has there. Do note that Canon is one of the more Linux-unfriendly companies out there.

But even if you can't find a decent FOSS driver, there's a good chance the proprietary TurboPrint driver supports it.
