if it does not come with scroll bars and your screen is too small to contain the entire window because whoever coded it did not include the code to make it auto adjust to the screen size under y=height. You always have your command line.
It was loaded as part of the normal updates so I assume all users would have it.
If I maximise it the width is less than the screen width but I guess height is about twice the screen height.
I have tinkered with terminal but still a novice. How do I use the height command and can anyone recommend a dummies guide to terminal commands.
in order to learn and understand the particular commands needed to search and install software for your system you need to look for your particular disto and what package manager it uses for the command line. Because not everyone uses the same package management (command line) system. Linux Mint how to install a package would be a good search string to use.
for general command line basics that too can be gotten on the inter-net .
basic command line commands linux
is a good search string to use.
if you're having any issues with the command in what you're trying to do is not doing that you're trying to do. feel free to post back in hopes for clarification.
I think Mint uses apt-get which is common for Debian knock offs.
Unfortunately that does not work. Arrows, page down & mouse will not move it. I assume this is all because there is no scroll bar on RH side.
I can drag the window left/right but not up/down.
yeah I use to have a netbook they are notorious for having a screen that is too small. I got tired of trying to code in one.
They're nice and light though.
bright side. it will "force" you into learning your command line so you can be a true Linux Command'0. it's just repetition and memory recall without all of the visual aids, ie gui.
it's not that bad, I can remember my Dad talking about the punch cards that had to be in order to run a program. So yeah command is much easier then that was.
The strange thing about all this is why this particular programme does not have a scroll bar. I can scroll all through this forum because the browser does have one.
Will have to get stuck into terminal, reminds me of DOS in pre windows days.
