Cannot make HDF5 work

I am trying to install HDF5. I tried these approaches:
http://depts.washington.edu/cssuwb/w...5_installation
https://support.hdfgroup.org/ftp/HDF...e_docs/INSTALL

but I can never execute 'h5fc --version', this gets me
/home/myname/anaconda2/bin/h5fc: line 366: /home/bruulsem/anaconda2/bin/x86_64-conda_cos6-linux-gnu-gfortran: No such file or directory

even after installing with configure -prefix=/opt/source.

Running h5fc shows that
-prefix=DIR Prefix directory to find HDF5 lib/ and include/
subdirectories [default: /home/myname/anaconda2]

However, I cannot find a way to change this. Is there a way to edit this, or to thoroughly uninstall hdf5 so I can try it again?

What distro do you have? Probably there is a precompiled package ready for your distro.

Tried this website https://scientificlinuxforum.org/ind...showtopic=3225
and replaced 7-5 with 7-10 so it would work, and it appeared to install (said "
Warning: RPMDB altered outside of yum.
Installing : hdf5-1.8.12-8.el7.x86_64 1/1
Verifying : hdf5-1.8.12-8.el7.x86_64 1/1

Installed:
hdf5.x86_64 0:1.8.12-8.el7

Complete!
")

but when I try to check I still see

> h5fc --version
/home/myname/anaconda2/bin/h5fc: line 366: /home/myname/anaconda2/bin/x86_64-conda_cos6-linux-gnu-gfortran: No such file or directory

Is this the right way to check if it is installed?

Doesn't look like "--version" is a valid option: https://support.hdfgroup.org/HDF5/do...tml#Tools-H5FC
