Question Cannot get GL working with my Voodoo 5

Screen savers in KDE using GL crashes the machine.

lspci says

00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5591/5592 Host (rev 02)
00:00.1 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5513 [IDE] (rev d0)
00:01.0 ISA bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 85C503/5513 (rev 01)
00:01.1 Class ff00: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] ACPI
00:01.2 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 7001 (rev 11)
00:02.0 PCI bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5591/5592 AGP

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: 3Dfx Interactive, Inc.: Unknown device 0009 (rev 01)

Could this be a clue ?
Why does my voodoo 5500 appears unknown ?

Xfree uses the TDFX driver ok
AGPGART is loaded too

Thanx for any ideas. ..

Because it's not listed in your installed
pci.ids
file ... nothing to worry too much.

How old is your Mandreck?

If you get a newer kernel, and copy the
pci.ids that comes with it to where your
old one lives that display will change.

But it won't change the lack of functionality.

As for KDE - it may well be that the version
your 8.0 is using doesn't have GL support
compiled in.

What output do you get in XFree86.0.log and
~/.xsession-errors

Cheers,
Tink
