Cannot copy to USB Memory Stick some files

Sounds weird but I can copy to my USB Memory Stick some files (text files for examples) but not other files (like link files for examples). The USB Memory Stick is automatically mounted when I insert it in the USB port, but I can only write to it if I am logged on as "root". Is there any way that I can write to the USB Stick any kind of files (no restrictions) ?

Thanks for your help

Is the file-system formatted as fat32 (vfat)? If so, use the umask option in /etc/fstab to allow anyone to write to it:
Code:
/dev/sda4 /mnt/dongle vfat noauto,users,rw,exec,umask=0000 0 0
If it is fat32 though, it won't support symbolic links. You could try tar'ing them up or formatting the file-system as a native Linux file-system (ext2, etc.). It depends on how portable you need the data to be.
