Can Linux mount ISOs as if it were a CD-ROM?

Windows needs software like Daemon Tools, but I was wondering if Linux, where you have to mount hard disks and cds all the time, can mount an .iso, .bin, etc and treat it as if it were an ordinary CD.

For example, I like to burn multiple CD ISOs to one DVD as regular data. Can I load up that DVD, then mount one of the CD-ISOs, treat that as its own CD?

I'm unclear, I know, and I apologise.

I don't think you could install a linux distro this way but I have mounted iso's when I needed a rpm and didn't have the cd around here is the command.

mount file.iso /cdrom -t iso9660 -o loop

which will mount the iso "file.iso" on to /cdrom. You mount it some where else if you wanted I like /foo

Just so long as the directory already exists. And, in fact you can install a Linux distro this way. Have a look here.

depending on your distro you maybe need to compile / load the loopback filesystem into your kernel. if your using suse or FC or any of the other mainstream ones you should be fine!
